HS2 Project Update - Summer 2023

Updated: Aug 3, 2023

HS2 is the ambitious project to bring a high-speed railway network in the United Kingdom that will link London, Birmingham, Manchester, and other major cities. The project will improve connectivity between these cities, reducing travel time, and increasing capacity on existing rail networks. The project will bring significant economic benefits to the country.

The proposed HS2 line consists of two phases. Phase One will link London and Birmingham, while Phase Two will extend the line further north to Manchester and Leeds.

The Government has updated how it will deliver some of its major transport infrastructure programmes, including HS2, over the next few years.Importantly, the Government reaffirmed its commitment to delivering HS2 from Euston to Manchester.

On the ground, progress has been maintained to ensure that initial high-speed services, connecting the super-hub stations at Old Oak Common and Birmingham Curzon Street, are operational by the early 2030s.

The HS2 programme is supporting over 28,500 jobs and creating over 1,200 apprenticeships so far.

We have a two-decade construction programme ahead to complete the railway to Manchester. That’s thousands more jobs, and thousands more contracts going to British businesses, laying the foundations for the arrival of more new rail services into the next decade and beyond.

The HS2 programme is supporting over 28,500 jobs and creating over 1,200 apprenticeships. It is the largest infrastructure project in Europe and the most important economic and social regeneration project in decades. MAC Group are proud to be part of this project and have been providing vehicles on a daily basis to assist as well as skips to sites.
